X-rays are very important diagnostic tool to check the health of the teeth and the bone. They enable us to detect cavity, determine bone loss, diagnose lesions such as tumors or cysts , as well as confirm fracture when trauma occurs. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, as well as confirm the accuracy of dental treatment.

Digital X-rays use sensor that captures and stores all the images immediately in the computer. X-rays appear on the computer monitor and you can see them better.

The digital sensor:

Intraoral Camera

This is mini camera that goes inside of your mouth to capture image of your teeth. The intraoral camera does not use radiation . By actually seeing what we see (the areas to be treated) you can better understand your treatment and dental procedures make more sense. It helps you learn about your individual dental needs and monitor the progress of your improvement. The intra-oral camera helps you make informed decisions of what path of treatment would be best for you.

Magnification Viewing

Dr Dara uses a high-quality 3.5X magnification glasses that allows her to perform treatments of all kinds with exceptional accuracy. Thanks to the magnified glasses she can create dental restorations with very precise fit and finish. It is simple not possible this days to fulfill high level of care with the naked eye.

Laser Cavity Detection

Small to medium size occlusal cavities(cavities on the chewing surface) often don't show on the X-rays. In the old days we checked all the grooves and pits with instrument called explorer. Unfortunately finding the cavities wasn't very precise, based on the force applied and the sharpness of the explorer. Since DIAGNOdent was discovered this is not un issue anymore. DIAGNOdent is a new high-tech laser system that scans the teeth and detects tooth decay in its early stages. Harmless pulse of light shines into the tooth and measure density of the tooth, than digital readout displays the number. By detecting cavities early we can saves you time, money and pain, while allowing to keep as much of your natural, healthy tooth as possible.

When the decay is small, minimally invasive procedure like Air Abrasion can be used.

Air Abrasion

Air Abrasion is advance new technique that helps remove tooth decay without using dental drill. Most patients remain comfortable and usually no anesthetic injection is necessary. Patient feels a gentle spray of air with combination of superfine "sand” that removes only already destroyed part of the tooth and preserve the healthy tooth structure.

Air abrasion is most often used for children to avoid dental anxiety that traditional methods can stimulate.
